Anti‑freezing Precautions for Concrete Pump Trucks

  • Replace the chassis engine coolant if it has been used for more than two years. Do not replace coolant with water. The grades of coolant and engine oil must be suitable for temperatures lower than the local minimum temperature.

  • Fill diesel fuel with a grade applicable to temperatures lower than the local minimum temperature, otherwise the engine may stall or fail to start due to diesel waxing.

  • Drain water daily from the bottom of the chassis air storage tank and hydraulic oil tank to prevent icing of the air circuit which would affect braking performance.

  • Replace the gear oil for the slewing reducer and transfer case once before winter operation.

  • For winter construction, thoroughly inspect and replace vulnerable parts such as boom pipes and cutting rings to avoid construction interruptions caused by component failure under low‑temperature conditions.

  • Do not operate the boom from inside the cab during pumping in cold weather to prevent operational accidents. Meanwhile, control the forward‑reverse pumping cycle for waiting‑material status at about 5 minutes to avoid concrete initial setting and pumping failure.

  • After pipeline cleaning upon pumping completion, perform reverse pumping to draw all water back from pipelines and drain it completely by opening the hopper. After cleaning the truck with a water gun, open drain outlets of the water tank and water pump to fully discharge water and prevent cracking from freezing.

  • Open the drain plug of the washing chamber to drain water inside the delivery cylinders. If used hydraulic oil from the first maintenance is added, only check daily for slurry leakage. Contaminated waste hydraulic oil or engine oil must not be added to the washing chamber.
